I like to listen to podcasts when I go running. Music is encouraging for getting my sweat on on a cardio machine or in a workout class, but for running a podcast gives me something to listen to and think about so I'm not thinking so much about how far or how long I am going.
My two favorite podcasts to listen to are Another Mother Runner Radio and Half Size Me.
I don't go to a therapist, though there are times I think I should with regards to my food issues (only slightly joking here..), but many times these podcasts are all the therapy I need.
Today I picked a Half Size Me podcast solely based on the length of time so it would last the duration of my run. Heather's interview with Scott Abel was interesting, full of good reminders and also well balanced.
None of the information was new to me, but when I completed four miles of running I not only felt better physically I also felt better emotionally for the words of encouragement I listened to. *contented sigh*
Yeah, I think anyone who has lost a lot of weight certainly has some issues to work through regarding food. It's just different for us, but that is our struggle. I never saw a counselor, but I certainly did a lot of soul searching (and still do).
ReplyDeleteHi Leah! I just now saw your comment you made in June (!!! oops...my bad!) on my blog. I haven't actually done anything with my blog for months, but I check in with it occasionally to delete fake registrations. Anyway...I was so glad to "see" you over there! When I met you I never would have thought you had struggled with weigh loss and all that goes along with it. You look amazing! So very inspiring! I am still looking at losing about 75 pounds. I really should take that post down, because I'm SO not motivated! I SO need to do it though, and I am getting ready to read through your blog...very inspiring! A recent post of yours caught me eye...the one about figuring out if what we are eating is actually bad for us. I'm on my way back to finish reading it now, and to read others. Just wanted to say hello, and thanks for writing about your weight loss journey...I'm ready to embark on mine, well and truly, and get back to my running too. I just often feel that I won't actually be able to get the weight off and I'm sure running with the extra weight I'm carrying is terrible for my joints...but I do it anyway, figuring it's better to get some exercise than not! Anyway, I'm off to read your blog, and wanted to say hello since I've "found" you! ;-)
