Not Be Weary

I am using the Christian Indie Broadcast for my C25K program and so the music I "run" to is mostly Christian. I have to be honest that it's not really motivating in the upbeat, workout music way; however, the lyrics to the songs can be very perfect motivation for running and meeting goals.

Take today for example. One of the songs was titleed something like "Run" and in the chorus they stated the portion of scripture:
"I will run and not grow weary, I will walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31b)

I was almost in tears, claiming that as my own every time it was repeated in the song. Little by little I will get stronger and someday I will run and not grow weary....for 3.1 miles - my first 5K. :)

  1. That verse is almost identical to my life verse: "Let us not go weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap if we faint not." Gal 6:9
I totally need to apply this to this journey, as I do with the rest of my life. Thanks for the reminder.
You will do this, Leah...its going to happen!

  2. I like to run to Thousand Foot Krutch--They're a pretty upbeat Christian alternative group. I always like TobyMac, a new group called The Almost with their song "Hands," and I have another new group that I like is Seabird. I have to have music to exercise to, especially upbeat music!

  3. When I first considered the C25K I listed to the Christian Indie Broadcast, and I just couldn't get into it. It, as you said, was not upbeat enough. I'll have to relisten to it.

  4. That is a beautiful post and such a great scripture. I generally like more low key music, but while I exercise I listen to FFH, John Waller, Cademon's Call, Steven Curtis Chapman, and sometimes Michael W Smith. FFH has a very solid, quick beat.

I loved your final line - you will get stronger and not grow weary. Imagine how far you can go.

  5. Confession...after I finish the C25K program I'll be going back to my regular, more upbeat workout music. LOL I only keep using this because it has the audio cues of when to run and walk. :)

Thanks for all the great ideas of some music.

  6. It's so comforting to get messages that you are on the right path...the little things that happen through the day.
