Today's Weight: 184.5
Loss/Gain: - 0.5 lb
Total Loss So Far: -46.5 lbs
This loss pretty much reflects my week. I've had some higher calorie days and less exercise than the week before. That combination doesn't make for a high loss. However, I am grateful for the half pound down. You do get what you pay for in this journey.
I've thought more about the accountability partner thing and decided against it. I'd rather stick to keeping up on my blog and the accountability to my blogland friends (and "real" friends who follow my blog...scary.. )
The friend I was thinking of being accountable to is training for a half marathon and I'm not even sure if she is trying for more weight loss. I also did not want to burden her down with having to hear my every calorie count, etc. I have a dear friend who has been my support and encouragement through this journey from day one, and even before that. Between her, my husband, my mom and blogging I have more than enough chances to be accountable.
When I told my girlfriend that I decided against the whole accountability partner thing she agreed, and commented that it's hard to do that daily. It was kind of a confirmation that I might've been putting her in a hard place by asking her in the first place. She would've done it to help me, but I'm glad I didn't make her do that.
Anyway, that's that. Here's my exercise this past week:
Saturday - None @ gym. Cleaned house, did ALL the laundry, gardened and took care of the meals all day. It was a very full day that left me feeling very accomplished, but exhausted as well. I think my workout was chores that day. :)
Sunday - None.
Monday - None...lazy morning. Posted here about that.
Tuesday - 30 min. 2-mile walking DVD before work.
Wednesday - 30 min jog and 30 mins on bike at gym.
Thursday - None before work.
Friday - Going to gym today for 30 mins on bike and 30 jogging or elliptical.
My allergies have been going crazy the past three days, so Thursday I had no guilty feelings for not getting up before work to exercise. My head seems to have been aching straight through these days. However, when these bloomed in front of my house this week it made the allergies almost seem worth the hassle and pain. :)
You know...I also want to thank those of you who keep following and sharing words of experience and encouragement. I know I'm not the best example of how to lose weight, but this is my journey and as long as I don't quit I'm okay with that.
Have a nice weekend everyone!
It is hard to be accountable because ultimately no one else can do it besides you.
ReplyDeleteWhat is your magical 'I am not obese anymore' number - you must be getting close to it at 5'4".
I am extremely jealous of your dafodills - We are still completely buried in snow in the Northeast - not a blade of grass in sight.
Slow and steady wins the race - you are doing great!
I enjoy reading your posts Leah and I think this blog is a great way to be accountable. You're doing a really good job, you be proud of that! Did I tell you I downloaded the 30 day shred with my bday giftcard from you? I love it! It kicks my butt. And off subject here try a bromelin supplement from a health food store it will help your head tremendously, you just have to take 3000mg a day for at least a week, divide it up.
ReplyDeleteHaving an accountability partner is hard sometimes. I try to get my husband to be that person for me, but he's so easily swayed (LOL) that sometimes it doesn't work. I feel like a lot of times I'm helping keep him accountable. For me, I really find that keeping up with my blog keeps me accountable. I think about my readers and how I don't want to disappoint them. That kinda sounds crazy since I've never met any of them, but it's pretty amazing how it works. Keep up you're awesome work! You're doing great! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the 1/2 lb loss - a loss IS a loss, and that's what counts in the long run.
ReplyDeleteHaving a blog really works for me (for having accountability) - sometimes you just feel so guilty for having a "bad" day when you "report" to someone it's just not worthwhile. Glad to hear that you came to a decision that works for you!
Kelly - Thanks for the hint...I'll look it up. :)
