The Right Tools

Last weekend I was hungry and noticed we were low on fresh fruit and vegetables. There was really nothing for me to grab for a snack or to add to my dinner (ie. a salad) and it was a bit hard to be careful what I ate. So, Monday I made sure to get to the grocery store to stock back up on fruit and some fresh vegetables. It made it much easier to grab lunch and make dinner and not feel like I was going to go "out of control" calorie wise since I had healthy choices to choose from.

I was reminded that having the right tools really makes all the difference. So, here's a list of the tools that I have and that I'm so grateful for:

1. Good support system - My husband and some close friends who regularly encourage me, are working on weight loss with me and listen when I just need to talk about my weight loss struggles.
2. Income to support making healthier meals and to buy lots fresh fruits and vegetables to have on hand.
3. A workout routine that I really enjoy - Leslie Sansone's Walk At Home DVDs are my daily workout and I LOVE them!
4. Motivation - Other websites and blogs that I can read regularly to encourage, direct and help me to keep on track on this weight loss journey. Diane at www.fittothefinish.com is my biggest help right now and I'm so glad I found her site!
5. SparkPeople.com - I joined this FREE website to utilize their FREE food tracking tools. The journaling really helps me out.

  1. Hi Leah... come on over to my blog for some inspiration. I've talked to 30 people who have lost weight and I'm gradually telling their stories. I've lost 30 pounds myself. Yes, I was the WeightyMom amongst all the GlamMoms at my son's school... finally decided it was time to act.

  2. Nancy, Thanks for stopping by! I'm about to leave for an overnight trip, but I've saved the link to your blog to read the stories when I return. I'm looking forward to it. :)

  3. Leah, When I talked to Dave about doing weight watchers he asked me why. When I rambled off all my reasons they were they same as your "tools"

    1. I have you and Dave for support. Isn't is wonderful that our husbands love us for who we are but are supportive when we want to lose weight? And you and I have each other to talk to when our husbands arnt' "really" listening.

2.Income.... a must for good food.My husband if feeling this one! Although i have a hard time keeping it in the house. One day I bought 6 necterines and went to get 1 and they were GONE!! Not complaing about it cause my kids are starting to eat healthier. I had an apple instead.

3.Yes a workout routine. Don't bother trying to lose weight if your not going to exercise! I do dvd of the Biggest Loser and I walk the treadmill. Sweat it off baby, sweat it off.

4.Motovation. Seeing the weight come off and looking forward to weighing in a week. Reading other people's blogs,I'm right there with ya on that one.

    5. Counting calories is very important! I got onto Sparkpeople as well but am trying to figure it out!

Together we can do this. One day at a time. Wether we gain a pound of lose a pound we are in this together. And if we never lost a thing we would still be who we are and I love you for who you are NOT what you look like.

    Power on sister!!
